The team for England

7.30am: The final fifty singles competitors go to the post today, with the last three Brace runs during the lunchtime break. Both days saw very high scores - today the competition reaches its climax, with the team to be completed and at the end of the day's trialling, the runoff to decide this year's National Champion. Two of the three in the runoff are already decided - Tim Longton and Chloe Cropper. Who will join them? Ian Murdoch and Bob were the first to the post today - a left handed outrun under grey drizzly skies weith low cloud over the top of the hill. The sheep are looking good once again.

8.30: The wind has changed to the east, then back to the west. The cloud has nearly cleared from the tree tops. Runs are not finishing as quickly - some with less than a minute left, and David Harrison timed out in the single  It is brightening up a little as Austin Bennett goes to the post.

9.30: The first scores are up. Ian Murdoch has started the day off with 202, and Derek Scrimgeour isn't far behind on 198. The sheep have been a bit more testing today for some dogs. There were good numbers of visitors (as opposed to members), with over 400 on Thursday and over 600 on Friday.

10.40: The sun has broken through and it's getting warm. A standard has been brought in and scores are high again - not much margin for error. Already there are three scores above 200, with George Bonsall in the lead on 208. Frank Noble has just completed his run.

11.50: Frank Noble has joined the 200 club - already there are four members today!

1.00: We have a champion: Michael Longton is 2011 English National Brace Champion with Rainow Todd and Don - congratulations! Back in the singles, Mavis Backhouse has been awarded a rerun because of a lame sheep (as had Roger Handy earlier). The standard is now 198 points.

2.00: Vic Morris moves into fifth place with exactly 200 points.

2.50: A new leader - and the highest score of the whole trial so far - Alf Kyme and Sally with 212. The previous run had seen Mark Elliott and Spot take a place in today's top five on 204.

3.30: The sun is shining, it is a bit hot, but there is a cool breeze at times. Robin Dean haas given another masterclass commentary, on Angie Blackmore's run, proving very popular with the spectators. The local chairman has been having fun with the flags - skull and crossbones to indicate to the exhaust pen team to take the sheep off on abortive runs, and St George's Dragon on a red background for the letting out team. The Surrey flag is also flying, behind the judges' box. Richard Hutchinson has joined the leaders, currently third, on 208 with Wenndale Roy. Some of the team placings are already known, with today's scores higher than the other two days.

5.10: Just a handful of runs before the runoff. James Gilman had moved into fourth place, just ahead of Mark Elliott on olf. As the sheep are moved, Gus Dermody is keeping the crowds entertained.

5.40: Second last run under way - Richard Montgomery and Ollie, who have completed their run. Kim Dart just stayed out her time to an appreciative ppublic. The weather has stayed clear all day for another great day's trialling.

6.00: Last run over - just awaiting the scores to confirm who is in the runoff. Alf Kyme is confirmed as today's winner, but the final scores aren't yet posted. Runoff order: Tim, Chloe, Alf. Tim has sent Bob out to the right. A good run overall. Chloe also going well, perhaps better than Tim at this stage. A fantastic run right up to the last moment. Alf at the post now. Gimmers only are being used for the runoff and they are walking the drive away better than the ewes. Alf's run is going well and finishes to a huge roar of appreciation. Silence had endured throughout the runoffs as a thrilled audience watched. Now we await the final scores.

7.10: And Alf Kyme is the 2011 English National Champion with Sally. Congratulations! Alf scored 206, Tim 192. Well done to the Holme Sheepdog Society which has no fewer than five team members. Ian Murdoch is the nhighest pointed shepherd. Chris Todd won the OLF trophy, and everything esle was won by Alf Kyme with his home bred Sally! Well done everybody, and thanks to the committee and everybody else who helped to make this a successful and memorable National.
