Top tips for an enjoyable day

Sheepdog Trials are a great day out for anyone interested in animals and country skills. Here are some tips to enjoying your day in the countryside.

Wear and bring appropriate clothing. The weather can change significantly during a day. A sunhat and clothes to cover up from the sun, plus a coat in case it turns chilly or wet will make your day longer and pleasanter if the elements can't make you go home early.

Something to sit on - a blanket or a fold-up chair make watching a trial a more pleasant occupation if you can take the weight off your feet.

Food - catering will be available from Lancashire based Spencers Caterers - visit the refreshments tent for some locally sourced food and drink.

Dogs? - Your dog is welcome but it must be kept under control and on a lead at all times.

Disabled visitors will have a separate entrance that parks you close to the action.

Programmes - these are available to purchase from the International Sheep Dog Society tent for just a few £s. They list all the competing handlers' and dogs' names and explain the course.

Admission - prices to be confirmed.

There is no need to book in advance, tickets are available on the day. ISDS members in possession of their members badge get in for free.
