FUND RAISING DINNER
A fund raising dinner is to be held at 'the lakes' restaurant, Kendal college on Thursday 23rd Feb. International handler Stuart Walton who is now a full time chef will be showing what he's been up to in his new career. canapes, starter, main course, dessert and coffee. £25 per person with all proceeds to the English National fund, tickets available now inboX via facebook richard hutchinson or michael longton. Everyone welcome!!!!

The organisers and supporters have been doing sterling work raising funds doing what they love best - working their dogs.

Trials already held:

OPEN TRIAL. Held by the Rainow Sheepdog Committee near Macclesfield at Charlie Pickfords last Sunday. A strong cold wind made hearing difficult and the strong mule gimmer hoggs needed handling with authority. Former International Driving Champion David Wood of Derwent judged the 38 competitors which included some welsh handlers. £200 raised.

Two more fund raising open trials were held at Jeoff Heys, Hollins Farm, Quernmore, one on Christmas Eve and one on New Years eve, both days were on the whole wet with a few dry spells in between, both times the Lonk lambs were tricky to handle splitting at the lift to go past the dog back to the let out pen at times and liked to split up on the way round the course too. 47 dogs ran at both trials with some catering at the second one with £509 raised.

An open trial was held by James burrow at gibraltor farm silverdale on sunday. runnung was on mainly swale store hoggs which ran well if testing. micheal longton of quernmore judged in the bitterly cold but generally dry conditions.

On Sunday 13th November there was a nursery and new handler trial held at by Thomas Longton at Lee End Farm, Quernmore raising £60 for the national fund. The trial was judged by Alan Bradley of Broughton in Furness. The full results were:

A 2nd open trial was held on sunday 11th dec at james burrows place. Wet cold and windy weather didn't put off punters with a good turnout. Running was on mainly swale store lambs which were mostly better in the morning although were happy to change direction at any point when least expected!!

ENGLISH NATIONAL 2012 FUNDRAISER OPEN-TWISTON. Another good open trial today held by john and carol palmer of twiston. 37 dogs competed on excellent mule weather lambs with good runs possible although challenging on every aspect especially the single, although no DQ's a number got close!! richard 'blindman' hutchinson was in the hot seat with wall to wall sunshine enjoyed by all.

On Sunday 20th November Trawden held an open trial to raise funds for the English National. With the mule wethers behaving well all 43 runners that went to the post had an even chance of doing well. The results were

An open trial was held today at Rooten Brook Farm, Quernmore by Tim, Linda and Michael Longton. The running was on Swaledale ewes which were tricky to manage if not handled with a little force, there was an even chance throughout the day with prizes coming from the start of the day to the end. After a steady start numbers seemed to have slowed to a stop around 20 then a glut of runners arrived with 56 dogs running raising a total of £280 for the English National 2012. The day started off breezy but progressed to being very wet as the afternoon wore on.

ENGLISH NATIONAL 2012 FUNDRAISER OPEN. thanks to james dumbleton of macclesfield for judging the am session and mark france of littledale the pm. we got through the runners fast in the morning getting through 37 by 11.50. sheep where very good, could be tricky to lift in the rushes but everyone had a fair chance. pm sheep run over and tougher to pickup but great round the course with most points being lost on a gather far from straight forward, both judges being hard on wide runners going for the fence.

The programmes is airing now, twice a week, 9pm Tuesday and Saturdays. Channel 168 on Sky, and 110 on Freesat.  Available on iPlayer, and possibly on Freeview.
