There is a singles class and a brace (doubles) class. The trial starts at approximately 7.30am each day, with the running continuing late into the afternoon. Fifty singles runs are scheduled to take place each day, with the brace competition being held at lunchtime. The top five dogs from each day will form the team that goes forward to the International Trial in September against the teams from Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The captain and English Champion will be decided by a run-off at the end of the last day between the top placed handler and dog from each day.
